John Lennox Cummings recently graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston’s Beatty School of Business with a 3.95 GPA. He was nominated to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, an honor extended to the top ten percent of seniors, and he earned a Merit Scholar award. He completed a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Spanish, utilizing his language skills while traveling in Spain and Mexico, where fluency enabled him to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients. At twenty-two, he already balances academic distinction with practical experience and a steady habit of showing up when it matters.

Alongside his coursework, Lennox built a strong base in tax and planning. As a Tax and Accounting Intern at Bee Street Advisory Group in Charleston, South Carolina, he broadened his grasp of comprehensive financial planning. He became proficient with QuickBooks and Intuit Tax. He prepared and filed tax returns for seventeen C corporations, achieving an average turnaround time of thirteen days, and completed returns for more than 200 families with a five-day average turnaround. His accuracy, organization, and client updates contributed to a one-hundred percent client retention rate, and none of the returns he worked on resulted in an audit. The role required initiative and discretion, sharpening his ability to translate technical requirements into clear, timely deliverables.

Before Bee Street, he served as a Finance and Client Relations Intern at Cummings Wealth Management Group in Charleston. Although he shares the firm’s last name, there is no familial connection. He gained hands-on familiarity with financial software, supported 137 existing client relationships, and assisted in economic assumptions and internal fee audits for assets exceeding $400 million. The exposure taught him how diligence, documentation, and communication combine to protect investor interests and maintain trust at scale. He is also a certified Public Notary in South Carolina, which reflects his attention to process and compliance.

John Lennox Cummings complemented his finance training with roles that tested salesmanship and resilience. As an Inside Sales Intern at Lively Charleston Real Estate, he used Sierra Interactive to identify prospective buyers and sellers, averaged 250 calls per day, and generated qualified leads at a seven percent rate. During the summer of 2023, he worked as a Store Experience Guide for YETI Coolers, consistently exceeding daily sales goals of $15,000 during peak seasons while modeling attentive service and teamwork. Earlier, he served as a Server Assistant at 167 RAW Oyster Bar, where fast pace and coordination were part of every shift. He also worked as a District Manager for Boone Outdoor Maintenance and Landscaping in Hendersonville, North Carolina, during the summers of 2021 and 2022, handling regional invoices and payments, as well as managing expenses and revenue for more than 60 properties across three counties. At sixteen, he took his first job as a cashier at Pelicans in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, and contributed to digital and social media marketing. Those early responsibilities laid the groundwork for the reliability and customer focus that now characterize his professional work.

Education and service have long shaped his outlook. Lennox attended Christ School, an all-boys boarding school in Asheville, as a Headmaster Scholar, a scholarship that helped offset tuition and recognized promise; he graduated as a member of the National Honor Society. He volunteered regularly at the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, assisting with the monthly Saturday Sanctuary events that provided food, shelter, and support to individuals experiencing homelessness. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, contributing to the construction of affordable homes in the Asheville area, and he served as a PEP tutor at T.C. Roberson High School, assisting students with special needs in Buncombe County.

When Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage in Asheville and across western North Carolina, John Lennox Cummings supported relief efforts by donating to Beloved Asheville, a local nonprofit at the center of recovery, and by teaming up with his sister to sell Asheville- and Appalachian-themed stickers, donating all proceeds to the organization. Outside of work and service, he is an avid angler who once spent a summer fly fishing in Montana’s Rocky Mountains; he also enjoys boating, discovering new music, and attending concerts. Raised in Asheville at roughly 2,200 feet above sea level and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, he still seeks time outdoors with family and friends. The through line in his story is discipline and care for others: a near-perfect GPA, fluency in Spanish, internships that demanded maturity, and steady community engagement, all pointing toward a career grounded in financial acumen, initiative, and integrity.
